Intended use

The torque limiter is a mechanical protection solution for machine and attachment use where temporary torque overloads occur. Typical situations include impacts, shocks, jams and other sudden load peaks that can damage components or cause costly repairs.

The torque limiter is intended specifically for managing these temporary overload situations.

Operating principle

The operating principle is based on a preset torque limit: when the torque exceeds the set limit, the torque limiter trips and helps prevent the effects of overload from being transferred to structures and components.

Once the load returns to normal, the protection automatically re-engages, which allows work to continue quickly without a separate reset.

Structure and locking

The precision and reliability of the locking are based on a structure where spring-loaded balls lock into machined seats.

This provides secure locking without play and reduces the risk of unwanted slippage.

Restrictions and instructions in an overload situation

The torque limiter protects only rotational torque. It is not intended to protect against bending, pulling or side loads, for example.

The product must not be used on rapidly rotating shafts. The permitted rotational speed is a maximum of 10 rpm.

In an overload situation, the rotation must be stopped immediately. Rotation under load must not continue for more than one revolution.

The torque limiter is intended for overload situations caused by external loads, such as shocks, and other temporary torque overloads. It is not designed for continuous use in power transmission or rapidly rotating shaft applications.
